I passed the MCSA upgrade 70-648 this morning. Exam was 57 questions and broken into two parts with 27 questions from 640 and 30 from 642. More than a third of the former was on certificates. I had no sims or WDS questions and was done with everything in an hour.
Study material I used was the 640 & 642 books from Microsoft, "The Real MCTS/MCITP" from Syngress (good book, poor companion CD), 648 exam from MeasureUp (DL from their site), and SelfTest's 648 practice material.

How would you rate the MS Press books when used for the upgrade exam? Was it harder to sort out the new, updated information from all the old information that wasn't a focus of the exam? -

I always buy the MS books on the theory that, since they are published by MS, they will cover the required material. Plus they come with MeasureUp software which I like and a 15% voucher. I then get someone else's book to cover what MS forgot or was unclear about.
MS seems to have a real hard-on for all things involving certificates. If you plan on taking 648 be sure you know it well. -

More and more people are knocking out this '08 exams. I need to get back into the swing of things... -
aaronchristenson Member Posts: 261 ■■■■□□□□□□Congratulations, I studied almost the exact same way. I used the MS training kits books for each exam as well. All I did was read the chapters that matched the objectives for the exam. So I basicly read about 1/2 of each book and used the practice exams from each book.Aaron
