XP Pro doesn't support upgrade from Win98!

I just tried to upgrade from Win98 (not win98 second edition) and XP clearly says "Windows XP doesn't support upgrade from Windows 98" and only it allows a new install. What is wrong here? Could it be that XP only supports upgrade from Win98 SE only.

Hi there, I have just successfully upgraged 20 or so Win98 desktops in the office without any problems.

Have you checked to see if you have the "clean install version" or "upgrage" Cd, as you cant upgrade with the clean install version..

Any probs, get back to us..
