Passed the 647 today with a score of 929 to earn my MCITP: Enterprise Administrator.
I passed the 649 two weeks ago, but with the holidays there were no open test times so I had to wait until today to take the exam. I put the time to good use by reading the 70-647 MS Training Kit - the first time I ever read an entire Training Kit.
Review:
This exam is an Enterprise level exam, so worry less about file and directory permissions and more about forest trusts and AD rights delegation - in other words, think big. In Microsoft's vision of the typical enterprise, they have a large budget and can use the various System Center products as well as other separtately licensed software like SoftGrid (requires SA and MS Desktop Optimation Pack) and Office Sharepoint Server. You don't need to know how to configure each product, just know when its use would be necessary if one of the included technologies won't cut it. This exam is also sort of a wrap-up for the MCITP:EA so the questions come from all over the place from DNS to PKI to Terminal Services. If you have taken the other exams in order this shouldn't be a problem, just use the MSTK as a review and don't stress about the exam. The questions were the newer, more direct kind and I had to stop myself from skimming them too quickly on a few occassions.
Materials Used:
Everything from 649 (plus a few additional chapters)- http://www.techexams.net/forums/showthread.php?t=38621
MS Press 70-647 Training Kit
Creating the Secure Managed Desktop by Moskowitz. I actually read portions of this book while studying for 649, but I didn't think they helped much. However, the SoftGrid chapters were useful for this test but way more in depth than necessary.
MS Press Server 2008 Security Resource Kit - I reviewed Certificates and Auditing only, but I think I will read the whole book now.
New year, new cert, hopefully a new job is next. Otherwise I will need to decide to pursue MCITP:EMA or CCNP.
