Cisco servers?

NetwurkNetwurk Member Posts: 1,155 ■■■■■□□□□□
Saw this today

Cisco on server collision course - Network World

Interesting stuff. Maybe we'll get one at work down the road. Might be a cool alternative to the HP/Compaq stuff

Between this and the rumor of Google making routers, this should be an interesting year for companies-dipping-their-toes-in-water-they-shouldn't-swim-in. icon_lol.gif

I think Nortel already won that category: Nortel Breathes New Life into the eCommerce Experience, Announces First-Ever Customer to its web.alive Virtual World Application - AOL Money & Finance

I thought it was a joke at first, but it looks like they already have customers for this completely ridiculous idea: Lenovo - Welcome to the Lenovo eLounge!

Cisco making servers was already brought up briefly in the offtopic forum.

They already put their name on blades switches and run IOS on them, why not run a server on one too? They also put their name on IBM and HP servers (for voice and WAN applications and services), so this is just cutting out the middle man.

They're doing it because server manufacturers are putting their own (inferior) multi-port switch modules into their recommended configs and a lot of the corporate execs are buying into it

I don't know about the rest of you, but I work hard to stay up to speed with the Cisco stuff. I don't want to have to deal with misconfigured IBM or HP switches.

This probably does belong in off-topic, so sorry about where I posted

Happy New Year (a little late I know) to everyone

I'm looking forward to the Google Routers.

Anyone want to bet they run GROSS?

Google routers, should I expect to see sponsored links show up on my internal web sites? Or they will route the http request to the site that best matches what I am looking for?

I was playing around with GROSS and I like how IOS like it is, but I found the AdSense really annoying when trying to read the config:
