Windows 7
Who download the Windows 7 (3.5GB)...? I'm working on the download and hopefully get the it up and run on my VM soon.
Anyone with comment if you already installed it for testing and exploring errors.

Darian929 Member Posts: 197hey kasor, glad your trying it out, ive been having it for almost 30 days now and pretty much can tell you its pretty stable.... no extreme errors. I mean there are times when the browser slows down and pages won't load but im not sure if that the O/S or just my computer but i think its the OS. anyways so far pretty much identical to vista but it does have its few extras, i like it personally. Good luck and let me know what you think when you download it.

msteinhilber Member Posts: 1,480 ■■■■■■■■□□I've messed around with it for a few days on my workstation in the office.
So far...
I like that out of the box it's much more responsive (x64 Windows 7, E8500 Core2, 8GB RAM) than compared to a clean install and updated Vista x64 installation on the same hardware. Even after I have a chance to "tweak" my Vista installation, Windows 7 still seems more responsive.
I like the new taskbar, took a bit to adjust to it but I think in the long run I would prefer it over the norm.
The "jump list" feature is pretty slick for commonly accessed websites or files I often open.
I like how the sidebar is gone and how gadgets can be moved where you want them.
I find it much less compelling to just disable UAC all together, much less intrusive.
That's my short list of what I like about it so far. I haven't been going crazy with it just yet since work is busy, but I'll probably play around with it for a few more days or so and then revert back to Vista x64 again until Windows 7 is officially launched. It looks very promising though, a lot of things I wish Vista would have. -
bradtechonline Member Posts: 63 ■■□□□□□□□□As you can probably tell by my Windows 7 icon I am impressed.. I run Vista SP1 Ultimate Edition 64bit at home, and run Windows 7 at work... So far I have not ran into any issues.. it is getting all my Group policies *confirmed through gpedit -r and rsop.msc. It uses less memory than Windows Vista did on the same box..
I honestly like it better in beta than I did running Windows vista lol..Working On:

Paul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□It's great. I benchmarked it against XP on identical XPS M1330 laptops with 2.0ghz Core 2 Duo processors and 4gb ram and Windows 7 (running aero) crushed XP. I have only had one crash and it was when recovering out of hibernation, but I didn't lose any data so no worries. Anyone know how long the beta keys last? I really don't want to uninstall this any time soonCCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA
