Well I got a job as a Network Administrator for a local city government, pay is only a little more than I make now but the benefits are great and it is more recession resistant since it is a city job. Gave my old job 2 weeks notice and start the new one Feb 9th. Thanks for all the help here with my resume.

How long was the entire hiring process for you? Was it an immediate need or did you jump through a few hoops for a while with other candidates?

Congratulations! Hopefully I'll be able to say the same as well. Will you get your hands on a lot of new toys at this job?

I applied for the job in mid November and just got the job last week. It took two months + Yes they had several others and one hell of a screening process.

    Congrats!

I signed an offer letter on Dec.11 and I am still waiting for a start date. I was told from the beginning that there would be a delay, but it is killing me!

congrats dude. I work for a school district and find it more satisfying than working for the private sector (most of the time). But....be prepared for some major politics and government misspending! LOL

Government jobs are the best because when you retire, your pension is paid by us taxpayers -- so it's pretty solid for retirement.

By the way, you're welcome ;)
