I am looking into exchange backups, using Symantec 11d and i understand you need to install a remote agent on the exchange server, but is there any other agents i need to install??

If this is server only does exchange, then no. If you have a sql server then you will need a sql agent on that server.

Like macdude said the Exchange Agent is the only one required. Note that for licensing the Exchange Agent includes the Remote Agent for Windows Servers license so you will need 1 less of those.

As everyone has said, to back up any remote servers, you need a remote agent.
