Class B subnet
172. 16.0.0 = Network address
255.255.254.0= Subnet Mask
Number of hosts per subnet = 2^9 - 2(excluding subnet and broadcast address) = 510
valid subnets 0.0 2.0 4.0 ............. 254.0
For subnet 0.0
broadcast address is 1.255
valid hosts= 0.1, 0.2 ...... 0.254 1.1, 1.2 ...1.254 = 508 hosts in total.
(first host 0.1 and last host 1.254)
I'm counting only 508 hosts(254+254). Where are the remaining two hosts?
Thanks,
Hari
