3550 smi ready for EMI?
Hey guys
how do you know an SMI 3550 switch with SMI image will take a EMI image?
what specs do I look at to know before I buy this switch off of ebay?
I can get an EMI image; is it the size of the image and the flash size? thanks

If you're downloading from CCO then they do say they track downloads. Do it at your own risk etc... -

SMI images support extremely basic IP services. I forgot to verify the image that came on one of the 3550's I bought and when I went to start up OSPF and was greeted with "This protocol is not supported" I realized that SMI image was installed. I just copied the EMI image from my other switch over to the SMI switch and haven't had problems since.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA

If you're going to get a PoE switch get a 3560. The CCIE utilizes the 3550 and the 3560. I have noticed little difference in price between PoE 3560s and non PoE 3560's, but a large price difference between 3550's with and without PoE. That's just an observation.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA
