JobNet Jobs Detail

Pisses me off. yeah it doesn't list any certs but nonetheless, if a person can do this kind of work you think they would pay more than 25K per year. even to start. like it is a normal job that any geek can do. I beg to differ. Even the Geeks squad people doing their work, they have to know something but 25K for doing computer technician work. Man
are we hurting. NO wonder this website is praised a lot. We needs 20 certs to make any kind of money..MY GOd help us out!

where i live 35K is big bucks! (*&%^$$$$*^ sucks!

    it's a pretty basic job.
they don't require any degree or certs, but they do offer tuition reimbursement -- meaning it's a job for a student.

come to southen california, you'll be asked to do this same job for about 5k more as long as you have a degree and 2-4 years of experience :p

They are asking for a fairly robust set of skills. Basic support as well as some LAN/WAN configuration, unless they just poorly worded the description and it's not so much configuring. It sounds though like they want a jack of all trades type employee.

I wouldn't consider it a basic job, and I would if I were doing it even with my skillset not where it is at now expect more money than 25k a year.

Tuition reimbursement has nothing to do with meaning it's for a student - many employers offer tuition reimbursement for any employee, even those who already hold a degree. I'm surprised people with a degree and 2-4 years of experience would bother with a job like that for a mere 5k more given the higher cost of living, desperate times for many of us though I suppose.

I agree that it is a basic job. They want a person with some general knowledge of IT and NOT a specialist. In NYC, it is a $30K-$40K/year job for a student.

We posted something looking for desktop, citrix and voip at my job not too long ago. To test the market they posted low to check out the applicants they would receive. I think they did about $25k or so with great benefits. So very simliar to this.

We received about 400+ applicants in less than a month. Mainly Indians getting their first USA job, but we also got a lot of older people just looking for benefits etc. So last I checked they are not going to raise the wages, they are gonna see what they can do with the first wave of applicants.

Just an observation, this posting doesn't mention any specific language as a requiment, combined with the low pay indicates they are luring new immigrant labor.

I totally understand, 25K to start, that is a dream for me, I am being paid pitence and yet I am doing what is effectively an IT Managers job. It pisses me off as well.

I mean NJ/NYC region in general. The salary range I mentioned reflects what I saw over the past couple of years.
