Is this enough for CCIE home lab?
Hi guys, help me out a bit on this one.
It's either dynagen box/switches or just the whole thing. If i do end up getting the real deal, it going to look something like that list bellow. Its just one of the many options on ebay, and i need to know is the configuration below enough to run all topologies, workbooks, etc.
Routers
+ R1 - Cisco 2610XM Fast Ethernet Router 128D/32F Adv Ent 12.4T Dual Serial
+ R2 - Cisco 2610XM Fast Ethernet Router 128D/32F Adv Ent 12.4T Dual Serial

+ R4 - Cisco 2611XM Fast Ethernet Router 128D/32F Adv Ent 12.4T Dual Serial
+ R5 - Cisco 2611XM Fast Ethernet Router 128D/32F Adv Ent 12.4T Dual Serial
+ R6 - Cisco 2611XM Fast Ethernet Router 128D/32F Adv Ent 12.4T Serial
+ BB1 - Cisco 2501 Ethernet Dual Serial Router 16D/16F Ent Plus 12.2

+ AS - Cisco 2511 Ethernet Dual Serial 16-line Access Server Router 16D/16F Ent Plus 12.2
Switches
+ SW1 - Cisco 3560-24-TS-S Layer 3 Switch Adv Ip Services K9 12.2
+ SW2 - Cisco 3560-24-TS-S Layer 3 Switch Adv Ip Services K9 12.2
+ SW3 - Cisco 3550-24 EMI Image Layer 3 Switch Ip Services K9 12.2
+ SW4 - Cisco 3550-24 EMI Image Layer 3 Switch Ip Services K9 12.2
Accessories
+ 12 x serial DB60-DB60 crossover cables
+ 12 x cat 5E straight-through cables
+ 20 x cat 5E crossover cables
+ 2 x RJ45 / DB9 console cables
+ 2 x Cab-Octal-Async cables
+ 4 x Ethernet Transceivers
I have couple of more questions:
1)Do i need to upgrade routers to 2FE, if so which ones.
2)Are all cables included?
3)The equipment is from UK. I'm continental Europe. Do i need any special power converters or is it simply a matter of buying those 3pin to 2pin converters?
4) Speaking of electricity, what's the electric bill I'm looking at with this animal?
I'd be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this.

No doubt, that lab will do just fine without modification.

mikej412 Member Posts: 10,086 ■■■■■■■■■■That's a pretty "standard" rack that should let you do any of the 3rd party vendor CCIE R&S Lab Workbooks.
The 2611XM are Dual LAN interface routers (2FE).
It looks like it has the "required cables" -- but if I counted correctly you might want another 3 straight through Ethernet cable so all the routers are accessible/configurable via your network (plus 1 more transceiver if the 2522 doesn't have a UTP port for the Ethernet interface).
Most of the power supplies are 100-240 volts 50/60Hz -- worst case you have to find a bunch of "standard PC power cables" for your country.
The cost of the power is tiny compared to the pay raise you can get with a CCIE (unless you already make more than a CCIE -- in which case who cares what it costs).:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -
acidsatyr Member Posts: 111Thank you both for quick answers!
About cables, i plan to do full mesh so i don't need to touch it at all), that why i need to know
what else do i need...
(no i'm not good at counting )
Ill throw in powerswitch in there as well.
thx again -
EdTheLad Member Posts: 2,111 ■■■■□□□□□□My advice would be forget about the 3560s,get 3550s instead, additional features which are minimal can be learnt via rack rental at a fraction of the cost.Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$
