Just as I was thinking of building my next generation PC/VM, I run into this article :P damn should I wait another year for a 32 core processor lol...

AMD plots 16-core super-CPU for 2009 | News | TechRadar UK

I can almost definitely say that Datacenter will be shrinking more and VM certifications will be in demand and a requirement, more kudos for VMWare :P, hopefully applications will support and have flexibility with multi-core systems, from years to come.

"will be its first substantially new CPU core since the original Athlon 64 processor of 2003. And it'll be the first ground up architectural redesign since the K7 Athlon of 1999."

Awesome in a lot of ways.
