Don't be afraid to book the exam!

Word up!

I've just passed the CCENT cert with a score of 970 hurrah! However it took me ages to actually get the exam booked and when I did book it I was really stressing out about it because I'd heard it was quite hard.

In the end though I didn't find it too much of a challenge I feel like I'd almost over prepared, I think the thing is as long as you've covered the topics in the cisco books and done some lab sims etc you'll probably be OK. There were no "trick" questions and although the exam covered most of what I'd learnt I have seen much harder practice questions on the Boson simulator for example, so if you can handle that you're probably ready!!

Hope that might help someone to take the plunge....

    Thanks man,

Believe it or not, your words of wisdom are really quite encouraging. I dont want you to violate any of the NDA laws, but can you answer this question?

I plan to sit the exam on the 23rd of April, although haven't booked yet because I think it might intimidate me. I am studying really hard. I have a years experience in a network support job role and have the official ICND1 Cisco study material which I bought online.

Is this enough to pass, as you seem to pass the exam off as ...simple.

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

I had only the cisco press books and the Boson test engine that comes with them up until 3 days before the exam when I bought Sybexs ICND 1 book so I could use it as a revision tool. I also did some online practice questions I found but basically what I'm saying is although the test is not simple if you know the material and can pass the exams on the Boson test engine then you'll probably be fine! So your years experience is probably enough although I do advise cramming for about a week or so before the exam doing all the "Do I know this already" questions taking practice exams, practicing subnetting and generally revising all the key topics. Everybody has their own method of study though but for me that was enough.
