switch 2950 problem

Hi! everyone ( i hve just registered for the website)

I have bought a cisco 2950 switch with username and password already configured in it which i did not know. I followed the password recovery procedure as in cisco's website. After that i reload the switch and now i am not getting any command prompt. the only thing i am getting in hyper terminal is
*Mar 1 00:00:18: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface FastEthernet0/3, changed state to a
dministratively down
*Mar 1 00:00:19: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Vlan1, changed
state to down
*Mar 1 00:00:19: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface FastEthernet0/
3, changed state to down".

I tried to restart the swith but without any luck. I am preparing for icnd1 exam and i need bit more prctice with switch commands.

Please help.........

it could be a baud rate issue from hyperterm.

Try a different baud rate or retry the password recovery proceedures listed above.

if your're getting output messages on the console line (and from my personal experience) pressing the enter key should get you the prompt, those are just status message telling you either the calbles are not connected or the other end of the cable is not there.
