Quick easy one for clarification

Hi,

100MB Full duplex means 100MB can be transfered and received at the same time giving an effective 200MB transfer rate.

Half Duplex means data can only be sent or received at any one time, but if you had 100MB half duplex does this also mean it only sends 50MB one way at a time or does it still have full 100MB bandwidth but only 1 direction at a time?

Thanks
Nick

100MB full: Packets travel in both directions at the same time with a maximum of 100MB combined.

100MB half: Data is sent in one direciton at a time, maximum of 100MB.

Unless my brain is not functioning, that's how I see it.

You can either send or receive with half duplex, but speed is still 100. Like you said, full duplex allows to both send and receive at the same time at 100 each way, so a theoretical max of 200.

    100 + 100 = 200. Its a thoeretical number.

    Thanks for clarification.

So its always 100MB (if thats the defined speed) but full is both ways at the same time and half is one way at any one time.

Thats as I thought it should be so looks good.

    Thanks again
