Also what type of memry is the FLASH?
thanks
Kev

i got my 2610xm for about £25 and my 2610 for about £18, the memory module in that link is £25 by itself, do you see what i mean .... i have seen 2610 with 12.3 going for £30 both flash and dram maxed out.Working on CCNP 642-813 and finishing off MCSA. -

I do see what you mean, but I have never been as lucky to get/see them go for that.Currently studying:

You are certainly right there.
You must live in south of England, as I live in the North East and most of ther routers I see come from london area.
Got a complete CCNA lab, will be upgrading it soon for CCNA Voice though.Currently studying:

Hi
Thanks yeah i live in the south cheapest 260xm near me is about £80! The same seller is quoting £18 for 32mb of DRAM and £16 for 16mb of flash so not to bad!
My situation is already have my lab 3 X 2610's and 2 X 2950's. 2610's only have 12.2 IOS running on them though.

I passed my CCNA with 2610s running 12.1, so thats not a problem. Only upgrade when you really have to, as upgrading costs money.Currently studying:

Thanks. I should be ok do you have the file name of the IOS that you used?
I guess the routers would be quicker with more memory though? Just like a pc would!
What memory you have in yours?

They don't need to be fast for the lab, as they barely get used anyway. A 2610 (NOT xm) is maxed out at 64MB DRAM and 16 MB flash. Only then can you use the IOS 12.3: c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.123-26.bin
I've only done this for one of them so I can use the WIC-1ADSL card. Able to run the internet over the frame relay, can better test ACLs and NAT.
Would recommend getting one if you plan to upgrade a router as I've learned much more by actualy using the lab more constructivly.
