What is an Active Directory schema? Can you give an example? I know AD very well, but these terms are confusing.

The Schema by definition is simply a set of rules that defines the kinds of objects (i.e. users, computers, servers, etc) and classes that can reside in Active Directory. It also defines the structure of Active Directory itself.
