Not only was she a gifted mathematician and brave enough to take on the Babbage Engine, she also seems to have been quite an inspiration to the world of Steampunk. . . err. . . lamp-oil romance.
The day was named after Ada Lovelace, daughter of the poet Lord Byron and the Countess of Lovelace, who is considered the world’s first computer programmer.
