what do thay mean and how should i do i t

Yeah -- what do they mean? You should probably ask for clarification.
Do they want to do a penetration test and attack the router searching for improper configuration or software vulnerabilities?
Or do they want you to look at the router configuration and make sure the best security practices have been implemented and the configuration done to match any other requirements.
Who are they? Your boss?
Is it your router (or your companies router) or a 3rd party router providing a service?
Are you one of the people authorized by your company security policy to perform this task?
