Subnetting

Okay, I've read so much about Subnetting.
Everywhere you read, IP Addresses between 128 & 192 = Class B Subnet

At work we have this Network Diagram. One of the Core Layer 3 Switches has an IP of 149.187.15.3 & subnet of 255.255.255.0

This is just a Class B IP using a Class C Subnetting Scheme correct?

Just like you can have a Class A IP that can use a Class B or C Subnetting Scheme.

I believe the Subnets would range from 255.255.0.0 - 255.255.255.254

The block is 1 which is in the 3rd octet - 255.255.X.0

Let me know if this looks correct?

Thanks,

Subnetting breaks larger networks into smaller networks, so yes, that is correct.

    Thanks Dynamik.

Blackninja, I've already been there.. I'm just asking if it looks correct or not.

I'm pretty confident it's correct. I've studied Subnetting pretty intensively.

For the record the subnets would be:

    149.187.0.0 - 149.187.255.255 /24

256 subnets with 254 valid hosts per subnet ;)

yes of course, My bad, I dont know why i put "255.255.0.0" & "255.255.255.254"

My fingers went into auto-pilot on the "255's"

So yes, u caught me ;)

    Thanks for noticing
