Hello all,
Management at work is telling me to learn oracle to administer databases, so I want to be certified by oracle as a DBA, what exams must I pass to be an Oracle Database Administrator?
I have no experience with oracle...
Thank you!

Oracle doesn't offer one "DBA" certification...They offer Associate, Professional and Master levels for what they call an "Oracle Database Administrator". The path that you take will depend on, among other factors, which version of Oracle database concerns you.
Additionally, everything beyond the Associate level in Oracle certification-land requires attending certain required courses.
I hold one of their certifications...Oracle Database SQL Expert...it's a good all-around SQL certification.

I have read the SQL Fundamentals I book 2 times and used the practice test software and I failed the exam on my first attempt. I have now purchased the practice test from Skill Soft and found it to be much better. I will give the exam another attempt in a week or two.Aaron

maumercado Member Posts: 163As of now were using 11g on most recent projects and were always using the newest one.
One of the reasons I post this was also to know how to start the certification path, I have no experience with oracle, and little to none experience with databases, so what should be the first exam?
does the 1Z0-051 Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I cover all the basics or should I go with the 1Z0-001 Introduction to Oracle: SQL® and PL/SQL? -
maumercado Member Posts: 163Ive been looking around for books, for self study, and found these,
for the SQL fundamentals:
Oracle Essentials Oracle Database 11g - O'Reilly
OCA Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide - McGraw-Hill Osborne Media
for the Administration:
OCA Oracle Database 11g: Administration I Exam Guide - McGraw-Hill Osborne Media Oracle Database 11g Administration - Apress
These seem to be good books... and for practice exam ill go with transcender! -
