Hello. I'm a 20 year old college student. I'm trying to break in to the computer field. I've never made a resume, so I'm clueless on where to start. I never thought about getting a job in the computer field while I was in school, but after a class discussion, I realized it would be very beneficial for me to gain experience while going to school. I will graduate in December with a Network Administration degree, then pursue a Bachelors degree later on.
Do you think it's realistic to get a job with the certifications I have? I will take anything I can get.
Also, if you can recommend how to layout my resume it would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Josh.

For IT, if you don't have a lot of experience you normally should lay out your resume like

Aldur Member Posts: 1,460I think the certs that you have are more then enough to get you started. When I first went to work at JTAC I had no certs, about 8 or 10 months school under my belt, and a whole lot of nothing else
I actually just graduated with my CS bach degree about 3 months ago and if I would have waited till that was all over before I started looking for a job I would have been screwed.
Point being the sooner you start looking for a job the sooner you can start putting experience under you and be that far ahead of the game when you do graduate from school."Bribe is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. The X makes it sound cool."

we are both in the same boat! you have a lil more certs than I, but still good/great to get a job/started.
im only 23.. and just started looking for a job in february and just finally got a helpdesk job about a week ago.
at first I used resume templates from microsoft word and started from there.
uploaded it to all the internet job boards.
monster.com, dice.com, hotjobs.com, careerbuilder.com etc etc
I think ended up changing up my resume on a regular basis..
I didnt have experience, only certifications and college experience.. so I put any experience i had at the bottom, which was volunteer work.
i started with contact information, then my education with relative courses, then skills i've learned from that education, and then certifications ive gained from the skills and education, and then the work experience.
I stopped using word templates because what I would upload them from word onto these job boards.. they were be pulled all out of order..
so i try to keep it as simple as I possibly can.. no tables, try to start away from columns.. but dont appear to have too many issues with that.
so just browse around give it a shot.. once you start.. you'll change your resume around like 10x lol im bout to change mine again!!
