I don't know what to expect, but there's one thing I can talk about here ! Sun Cluster with Oracle RAC is an unbreakable combination that gives the 100% up time guarantee.
Maybe now we as Sun support will have to be Oracle DBAs ! -

That's funny. One of our Oracle DBA's just read the announcement and said 'Errr, does that mean I'll have to support Solaris now?'The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never tell if they are genuine - Abraham Lincoln -
UnixGuy Mod Posts: 4,570 ModThe responses now are ok here.
you know, it's much better than if IBM bought, because now Hardware don't need to be changed. We also used to suffer when upgrading from one sun server to another, because the more CPU cores you have, you have to pay more for Oracle License. So it was kind of ridiculous to convince a customer who bought a new hardware to pay again for Oracle license.
So Solaris and Sun servers are (hopefully!) safe... -

I'm sure that Oracle is at least smart enough to understand just how expansive MySQL is... at least you would hope.
Here's one analysts view on it:
Analysts: Sun's MySQL could thrive under Oracle ownership -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,089 AdminMySQL is still available under terms of the GNU General Public License and will live on. The future of the company MySQL AB and its support of MySQL itself is more of where my concern lies.

After 2 years working for that shithole, they art leat taught me about the corporate BS "white shirt and tie" BS that still exists there. And to think, my dad, who worked for them in CA for years warned me...... when will we ever really listen to our parents. LOL.-WIP- (70-294 and 297)

LOL - I walked out of IBM within one week of working there (in Ireland though). Although the same *sh*thole comment" applies to Intel and Dell. All three companies could kiss my a*ss ... Got "headhunted" into all three of them and said after a week "f** that"My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com
