Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
The Remove Hidden Data tool for Office 2003 and Office XP
If it's anything like Office 2000, then the uninstall and repair utilities with the CD will not delete or overwrite certain files that may be causing the issue.
For example, in Word 2000 (I'm not sure about future versions) when people were having issues opening Word, I could usually fix the problem by manually deleting Normal.Dot. The file would recreate itself once Word was launched.
The same would go for Excel, deleting the file Excel.XLB. Sometimes deleting outcmd.dat would help to clear up Outlook issues.
Have you tried opening the documents on another machine? Just curious. -

I'm just referring to say a corrupt powerpoint file - nothing wrong with office.
Have tried same file on several office 2003 computers and also an office 2007 one without success - corrupt file. -
