in CCNA & CCENT
I have the opportunity to chose one of these devices from my employer for free! My employer is letting me have just one of them so I need help deciding which one I should take. I am a newbie studying for my CCNA but plan on getting CCNA:SEC and CCNA:Voice once I get the CCNA. This is what I already have:
1 3640 2FE2W with WIC2T
1 2520
1 2610XM with WIC2T
These are my options from my employer (I can only get one):
Cisco 1760 with
1 WIC1DSUT1
1 VIC2FXS
1 VIC2FXS
1 VIC2FXO
Cisco 1751 with
1 WIC1DSUT1
1 VIC2FXS
1 VIC2FXO
Cisco 2610 with
2 WIC1DSUT1
1 NM-HDV with 1 VWIC1MFT-T1
Cisco PIX-515
Cisco IDS-4215
I want to get the best device for the long run.
Thanks for your help in advance.

kryolla Member Posts: 785for the long run all of these are end of life except the IDS which Im not sure. Do you plan on studying voice. Anyways I would get the 2610 due it having a NM slot and you have 2 T1 cards so you can move one over to your other router and make a T1 cross over cable and use it as your point to point linkStudying for CCIE and drinking Home Brew

joey74055 Member Posts: 216Well I was doing some pricing on ebay and it appears that money-wise, if I were putting myself in the shoes that I was going to have to buy one of these later my conclusion from a pricing perspective was that both the 2610 and 1760 are around the same price for just the router. When I looked at the price of the NM-HDV VWIC 1MFT-T1, that is an expensive item. Looks like you could pick up a couple of FX cards for around 80 bucks a piece. So cost wise it would be cheaper to go with the 2610 with the NM-HDV VWIC 1MFT-T1 and later spend $160 or so on a couple FX cards. On the other hand, if I go with the 1760 later on I would have to spend $200 to get the VWIC 1MFT-T1. Can the VWIC 1MFT-T1 run without the NM-HDV because the 1760 does not have a NM slot. Also, what do you all think about the PIX-515? Should I go with it over the routers? Like I said earlier my plan is CCNA, CCNA:Secutiry then CCNA:Voice.

joey74055 Member Posts: 216Thanks for the advice. I went ahead with the 1760 since I already had a 2610XM. At least now I have a voice router with 2 FXS cards and an FXO card.
