Should i take Network + before i do the 291?

ian g Member Posts: 29 ■■□□□□□□□□I'm not exactly sure what the Network+ curriculum covers. However, without a firm grasp of basic networking concepts, IP addressing, subnet masks, etc, you'll be lost on the 291.
When I took the test, there were only a handful of questions directly concerned with IP addressing etc, but without the core knowledge I would never have been able to build my VM networks - in my opinion almost an essential study aid for the 2K3 exam series. -
Daniel333 Member Posts: 2,077 ■■■■■■□□□□Consider doing the CCENT rather than Net+. The concepts are better presented than on Net+ and the hands on is much more practicle, this will best prepare you for the complicated subnetting/DNS/DHCP parts of the 70-291.
70-291 is a major "jump" in knowledge over 70-290/70-270, just watch out.
For your MCSA elective skip the Comptia and do something more practical such as Exchange 2003 or even to a lesser degree Security+.-Daniel -
dynamik Banned Posts: 12,312 ■■■■■■■■■□+1 for Daniel's suggestion. If you do want something to supplement 291, the CCENT would be a better choice. Also, it really doesn't matter which one you do first. The one you start with will require more effort up front, but the second will be easier since you'll already be familiar with the material that overlaps.

Psoasman Member Posts: 2,687 ■■■■■■■■■□The Network+ exam is MUCH easier than the 291, it has some concepts and ideas you must know. I would take it first.
