I Just checked. Been three weeks since she told me that she'll send me the voucher. If she wants me to take it until the end of the month then she better hurry. My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com -

Looks kind of intimidating, I may have to step this one down while working on my MCAS. <_<
It's not too bad if you have any server experience. It isn't too in depth, just an overview of the technologies.
I'd say go for it, man. You have nothing to lose. -
Breadfan Member Posts: 282 ■■■□□□□□□□I will taking mine on 5-22-09 (after taking the 71-680 on 5-18-09)
Thanks for the info on the exam. I am hitting the W7 exam as hard as I can and if then whatever time is left I will study for the Server+. I hope the way they ask questions have changed. If not, that's what I will add in my comments; if I have time that is.
Isn't it 130 questions in 90 minutes? Daanngg...
Good luck to all taking it.Mark Twain

msteinhilber Member Posts: 1,480 ■■■■■■■■□□Just got back from Prometric, I thought this test was exceptionally easy. Walked out the door with a handful of questions commented on in about 35 minutes. Anybody who has been around servers and basic troubleshooting for a little while should have no problems with this. I have spent a number of years designing, building, and installing various server configurations from small business to large enterprises and has spent the past couple of years mostly on the administration side and that mix seemed to make this a cakewalk.
Was funny with some of the SCSI stuff that I got hit with though. -

I don't have much time to study for it though. I took the sample 10 questions on the CompTIA website and got 6 of them right. -

Study anything in the objectives that look like they are a weak point for you. -
rwwest7 Member Posts: 300Just took the exam this morning. I may as well update my profile to say Server + certified without even waiting for the results. This was one easy exam. Lots and lots of basics. I didn't get any outdated SCSI questions like was mentioned. RAID was hit hard, but in an easy way. Nothing too complicated like I was expecting.

Megadeth4168 Member Posts: 2,157A practice test for a beta exam? That's very odd. What's the link?
I think the sample test in question is the 10 question Sample Test available through CompTIA's website for the current Server+ exam.
I took the sample for the current Server+ exam and scored 8 out of 10 the day I went into the beta exam. -
azjag Member Posts: 579 ■■■■■■■□□□A funny thing happened on the way to the testing center. Due to scheduling times I ended up booking a test center that was a little further away than my usual test site. I arrived there at 8:45am to take a 9am test. Found that as of the 24th of April the test center had moved. When I scheduled the test on May 2nd it still had the old address listed and my confirmation listed the old address. Needless to say I made it to the new test center by 9:15am.
The test was a little heavy on RAID questions in my opinion. All in all there were a few trick questions, some splitting hairs and some that could have been worded better. Not a bad test though.Currently Studying:

If the test site is convenient call them and see if they can fit you in. Some test sites will accept walk-ins. This test, for example, has a 2hr window to take and only takes ~45 minutes. Depending on skill level and knowledge. They might be able to squeeze you in, or had a last minute cancellation that was not reported to prometric. It helps if your schedule is flexible and can step away to take a test.
Best of luck.Currently Studying:

Have you asked if you can exchange the voucher for the other one (if the original voucher was for Prometric, see if they can change it to Vue or vice versa)?
I had problems with the first voucher Comptia sent out for Prometric - they tried to work out the errors, but in the end exchanged the Prometric voucher for a Vue one.

darkerosxx Banned Posts: 1,343Took the exam this morning and it wasn't that bad. I had taken some random online Server+ 2005 practice exams available around the web and the questions on the Server+ 2009 beta were a lot easier.
If you study and are familiar with the topics covered on the list JDMurray linked, you'll likely be fine. -
desertmouse Member Posts: 77 ■■□□□□□□□□Took it this AM after the Network+. I was hoping it'd be a little harder. Like previous posters I thought there were a LOT of gimmie questions around RAID and SCSI. And some OLD tech questions. I was hoping for a more technical exam, maybe they'll re-organize the objectives before the final release. My $.02

apena7 Member Posts: 351I took the exam on Saturday and found it be to pretty straightforward.
From my experience, comptia has the most poorly worded questions, but this exam was better than average. I only commented on a handful of questions (mostly grammatical errors). I finished with an hour to spare (you are allowed 2 hours, which surprised me since I thought we were only allowed 90 minutes).
I'm sure that I passed. But even if I didn't, I wouldn't cry about it. This exam was for the fun of it (although a freebie cert would be nice ).Usus magister est optimus -
jibbajabba Member Posts: 4,317 ■■■■■■■■□□Did the exam today .. must say it was quite easy (working over 10 years in that area though).
Some questions just didn't make sense... or at least the answers didn't ..... Don't want to say anything to break the NDA, but imagine a question
"Which material should be used if you want to mirror yourself in"
1. Polished silver
2. Glas
3. Chrome
Choose one.
You know what i mean ? Basically about 5 questions I had could have had two correct answers
But he - its a beta so I gave them my comments. Probably just read too much into it ..My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com -

I don't think you read too much into it... Like you said it's a Beta. I had a few of those questions as well... I made sure to leave comments so they knew where I was coming from when I answered. -
