Using a 2500 series router with octal cabling

Greetings:

I have the opportunity to use Cisco gear from a closed down Cisco Academy.. the only problem is I am not familiar with how to use an octal cable. IF I have to do password recovery first, I will. I've read somewhere that you have to clear the lines before you start working. Do you know of a site or have any information that could help me?

Octal cabling is usually used for access servers. Do a search on this site on how to setup an access server or on cisco.
