Help Desk Jobs

I'm currently working as help desk in a medium size company, who uses a lot proprietary/in-house software. The other thing is that the help desk role isn't as technical as I hoped for. It's more of a clerical type work in that I run report for people, I change some setting for people as their access is set to read only.
I was curious as to is this how most help desk roles are? I'm A+ certified and booked my network+ at the end of the month. Would those 2 cert allow me to start looking for jobs as tier 2 help desk?

depends on the company. some companies' help desk deal with proprietary s/w, some companies' help desk are really desktop support, and then some companies' help desk are really just that, help desk....ask you a few questions, give a few suggestions, and if not, escalate it to level 2....
