RIPv1 and Autosummarization

I'm studying the Wendell Odom Official Exam Certification Guide, and in ICND1 he says that RIPv1 does not support autosummarization (pg. 456) and in ICND2 it says RIPv1 does support autosummarization (pg. 223). I am confused.

RIP1 only supports autosummarization because its a classful routing protocol. RIP2 and EIGRP do support autosummarization but you can turn it off
