Can't do named access-list in fairly recent IOS versions?

poguepogue Member Posts: 213
I am running IOS version 12.3(26), and I can't do named access-lists.. As this was implemented way back in IOS version 11.2, as far as I know, I am thoroughly confused.

I have multiplr routers with IOS versions later than 12.0, and none of them allow me to put in the access-list extended name command.

Here is an output from my most recent IOS:

Router(config)#access-list ?
<1-99> IP standard access list
<100-199> IP extended access list
<1100-1199> Extended 48-bit MAC address access list
<1300-1999> IP standard access list (expanded range)
<200-299> Protocol type-code access list
<2000-2699> IP extended access list (expanded range)
<700-799> 48-bit MAC address access list
dynamic-extended Extend the dynamic ACL absolute timer
rate-limit Simple rate-limit specific access list

Anyone got any ideas?

I see myself doing the same thing... In fact, I'm studying access-list tonight and I was right in there with him...

Okay, I am not being on anyone's side.. and not defending anyone...

But there's just too much sarcasm, and bullying going on on this forum these days.. Looks like we are moving away from the actual purpose this forum serves..

I was reading another thread about some guy offering help to people with questions, and the kind of responses some experienced people have written...

If people are knowledgeable, and have modesty too, that adds to their personality..

Why pulling each other's leg here? Just my two cents..

    and here's my two pence..

I use and enjoy this forum very much and have learned so much from it. The main reason I use and contribue is that we all seem to have a good sense of humour and can take a few light hearted comments - where appropriate.

The day when a little humour/sarcasm is not tolerated is the last day I'll visit.

There's no need for bullying, but I don't see why we can't have a little fun.

Maybe that was legitimate, but it was an odd offer. It wouldn't surprise me if that led to a scam or trying to sell things. You spend enough time on these forums, and it becomes pretty obvious what something is out of place.

    Agreed.

Like I said, I don't see why everything needs to be dead serious. The guys in this thread obviously have a bit of history and are able to tease each other in good fun. I don't see any reason why others need to get offended on someone else's behalf. If the OP is fine with a little teasing, you should be too.

There are a few guys here that I like to give a hard time. I'm not being a jerk; that just signifies that I've gotten to know them and feel comfortable with them. Maybe you should feel offended and left out if I'm not teasing you icon_eek.gificon_lol.gif

No doubt..No doubt. I don't mind him teasing me at all.

Cuz then I get to tease back.

You are right on that. If the guy wanted to help he should just go and respond to the threads instead of making a question/answer thread of his own. I only did not approve of the teasing. (sounded like cyber bullying ) :)

And again, it's just a thought. I totally agree with you on trying to make it light for everyone & not making it a serious forum.

Their username is also the domain name for a **** Site - so that thread is gone. The questions they were interested in are probably the real exam questions.

A scraggly old drunk forum moderator staggers over, takes one look, and says, "Jeeeez, that's the UGLIEST thing I ever saw!"

The person who uses **** to **** on their certification exams turns their nose up at him and says, "This happens to be a stately creature! Go away, you horrid moderator!"

The old drunk forum moderator yells, "person who uses **** to **** on their certification exams, I was talkin' to the duck!"

Note: no forum moderators were really drunk (or scraggly) during the posting of this joke.
