Hello zoidberg and rossonieri
Hello Both,
I am preparing for JNCIP-M exam in Dec, 2009.
I am setting up olive for my preparation.
Please find below details:
RAM : 1.5Gb
Processor : 3.2GHz
virtual routers : 4
CPU utilization : 40 to 50%
when i added 5th and 6th virtual router, its CPU utilization goes upto 100%.
please guide, if this issue can be resolved.
i will be very thankful!

Toufiq

zoidberg Member Posts: 365 ■■■■□□□□□□sorry, i can't offer too much help there. i never used olives that much, i never tried more that 2 virtual olives on 1 computer. it sounds like you have plenty of horsepower and cpu there, but i really don't know what the limits are. sorry.

lol, help, or lack of help there of, has already been given
I chatted with toufiq and let him know that I know nothing about virtual olives and recommended hitting up zoid and ross for ideas.
Ya know, the basic sloughing of responsibilities
But seriously, I've only worked with hardware olives and real routers so I'm of no help here."Bribe is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. The X makes it sound cool."

tiersten Member Posts: 4,505How much RAM is each Olive taking up? 1.5GB split between 6 isn't very much...

toufiq Member Posts: 34 ■■□□□□□□□□sorry, I don't know your real name.
thats why i used your given name(nick).
i am facing high CPU(100%) utilization during my lab practice.
its working very slow and i have 1.5Gb RAM but i can't add more than 5 routers as its response becomes more slower.please suggest, if you have some idea.
Dear dynamik,
Aldur has helped a lot and I am very thankful to him.

ccnpninja Member Posts: 1,010 ■■■□□□□□□□I did a lab of 4 olives on a single 1Gig-RAM laptop. I thought it will be helpful for my JNCIA-M, although some folks would say it's an overkill.
each of my olives has 70MB of allocated RAM.
What's the limit? well my machine went up to 6 running Olives ! with the 7th Olive, it freezed

Aldur Member Posts: 1,460nice blog ninja, I especially liked your olive setup. Brings back memories.
So how's your Juniper studies going?"Bribe is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. The X makes it sound cool."

Actually I'm progressing very slow. I'm on BGP now. A lot of concepts are familiar to me, since I have recently passed the BSCI exam.
Next week I'll be attending a CJNR course; an opportunity to dive into Juniper world.

Nice, the CJNR class should be a huge help with furthering you Juniper studies. You'll have to let me know what you think of it, I've never had the chance to attend any CJNR training."Bribe is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. The X makes it sound cool."
