I'm currently in the process of virtualizing a second machine on my server. I was planning on practicing some of the DNS principles in the 291 book.
Any suggestions/advice that anyone may have is welcome! I am pursuing an internship soon, and would like to have a solid understanding of DNS before I start.

While you're at it set up a sub domain with a full dc as well to provide practice. Probably the best thing you could do aside from learning how to set up all of the zones is figuring out when specifically you would use a certain type of zone or another. Make sure you understand those stub zones! Dig in and figure out how active directory is dependent on DNS and you will have an edge on the competition. This link should be required reading for anyone doing the 291: Understanding stub zones: Domain Name System(DNS)Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/
