Can the old FAT be Defrag like the others FAT 16, FAT 32 and NTFS?

TravR1 Member Posts: 332Windows 2000 and beyond, no. You have to reformat the drive. The defrag utility in Windows does not support 12-bit FAT partitions. I could not find any other information.
I have no idea if there are 3rd party defrag utilities that do support it.Austin Community College, certificate of completion: C++ Programming.

To work around this problem, back up the volume, reformat the volume, and then restore the backup to the volume. The data should be restored contiguously
