Windows Update not working

I have Vista 64 Ultimate
Windows Update cannot search for updates and hasn't been able to since the fresh install.
I receive the error 80070423
Running the command 'regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll' does nothing.
Any suggestions?

Can you tell us if you tryed something else?
Did you try in safe mode? Did you (or the customer) installed something just before having problems?
