Errors during xmodem transfer

I just unboxed a 3640 (ebay) and threw in a couple sticks of flash. Because there was no image on either stick, I had to erase flash and do an xmodem transfer through ROMMON. Immediately after the transfer began, the error counter on the right incremented from 0 to 2. It has been going for a few minutes now without any additional errors, but that obviously isn't good.

Are those errors on the transfer of the file, or on the flash itself? What should I troubleshoot? I have another stick of flash, so I could swap one out and test each stick out individually if necessary.

Transfer errors which were detected and resent. Verify the checksum when its completed and cross your fingers that you don't need to redo it

What baud rate are you using?

I just attempted transfering a 8MB image to each stick, individually, one at a time. Both received exactly 2 errors as soon as the transfer began, so this doesn't appear to be an issue with the flash sticks themselves.

One stick already has a small image loaded, so I think I'm going to boot into that then T.F.T.P. the larger image across.

Assuming this works fine, should I be worried at all? I've never seen that before.. (but then again, I hardly ever Xmodem).

Edit: I was using 9600 baud - default

I don't remember getting any errors when doing an XMODEM transfer but your software might be trying to negotiate an unsupported option/extension. If it transfers successfully and gives the correct checksum then don't worry about it.

Next time you do an XMODEM transfer, you should increase the baud rate. It'll save you a considerable amount of time.

I ended up doing an Xmodem of the larger image at a higher baud rate (115200 I think). It took a couple hours and looked like it finished successfully, but I wasn't able to boot due to a bad checksum error...

I decided to try it one more time, and the second time the image was successfully copied over. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed and try to stay away from Xmodem on this one
