SSH authentication

Hi. I've been reading on ssh enabled authentication on cisco routers and switches. But when trying to run the crypto command on my devices, the command is not available. sh ip ssh is also not a recognized command. I was wondering if you know any work around for this where i won't have to download the ssh software from cisco.

Thanks.

yeah, annoyingly enough, ssh isn't part of the base IP images, only way to get ssh on your cisco gear is to use an IOS image that supports it. If your gear is too old and doesn't have an IOS image with the feature set, you're out of luck

SSH is part of crypto and it is a free upgrade for all feature sets in 12.4. They have a crypto and non crypto build of everything because of government export restrictions.

If you're not running 12.4, have an old router that doesn't support SSH or don't have access to CCO to get the necessary IOS file then you're basically stuck...
