Hello everybody, Cisco Catalyst 2950G 48 EI Switch, Cisco Catalyst 2950G 24 EI Switch, Cisco Catalyst 2950G 12 EI Switch, Cisco Catalyst 2950T 24 Switch, all of them are End-of-Sale Models.

Non End Of Sale are Cisco Catalyst 2950 24 Switch, 2950 12, 2950C 24, 2950G 24 EI, 2950SX 48 SI, 2950SX 24. Is that really true? And if that's the case, why do we need still to get the 2950G 48EI Model? And what's best among them to really get and deserves watever money? One last question please, what's the best among the 2950G (48EI-24EI), 2950C, 2950SX 48SI? I look towards the 2950SX 48SI, correct me pls if I'm wrong, Thx dudes.

I just started to look for a switch for my CCNA test, and looks that 2950 is well recommended here.

I have to same question. Can someone please help?
    Thank you.

The number of ports is unimportant for a lab. More ports = Easier for you but even a 12 port is enough for a lab. For basics, you'll want 2x 2950s of any kind. If you want to do all the labs then you'll want 3 switches of which at least one is running the Enhanced Image. You have to buy it with EI installed. You can't do a user upgrade.

Look for a 2950-12 port. You can get them cheaper and it will be more than enough. I bought 2 2950-24's before I got smart and got my 2950-12.

I setup a 3 port etherchannel on my 2950-12 and it still has 9 ports left for all kinds of goodness (trunking, etc.).
