Passed

Took the test today for the first time and passed. I studied a lot on RRAS because I have heard a lot of people say they had a lot of those type questions. Well on mine I had very few. I mostly had DNS and quite a few WSUS.

The only thing that saved me on the WSUS is that I had installed it on my home network and messed around with it. I also had a few subnetting questions which surprised me because everyone said they didn't have any.

Now it is on to the 236 and then the 648.

Good luck to those taking this test soon. Just study and make sure you understand the material.

**I used Microsoft Press Book, PrepLogic practice test, SkillSoft Course (Free for those that have access to the Air Force network), and CBTNuggets. CBTNuggets was awesome and helped a bunch to put all of the concepts together, especially when you couldn't or didn't want to set up the labs at home.

Congratulations on slaying the Beast. Moving on to 70-293 now, or doing something else entirely?

My original plan was to go for the MCSE but have decided against it for now. I have instead decided to get my Messaging cert (70-236) and then go for the MCITP:EA.

I decided this mainly because I work for the Government who is getting ready to change to Server 2008. But also because in the long run I think the 2008 cert will be better (differing opinions welcome, I am open for advice).

I figure if I go for the MCSE it would take me another 4-6 months to complete it. And I feel that in that same time frame I can achieve the MCITP:EA.

My one drawback is that the MCSE seems to be a more respectable cert, but am not sure how long it will stay that way.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

I definately agree with you on getting your MCITP:EA instead of continuing down the 2003 path. Soon enough the 2003 cert will start to phase out as did the NT and 2000 certs. In general all same theory is learnt doing the 2008 exams as well as up to date skills and knowledge. Id say if youre certified to administer a 2008 network, you will have minimal problems administering a 2003 network if you needed to, but maybe not vice versa as there is a whole lot of new stuff in 2008 compared to 2003.
Check out my blog for information on the MCITP Certification.

at least change to MCSA, beacuse the new certification have expiration when exam retire, the legacy certification like MCSA are not expired.
