HyperV

Ok

Was planning on having a break, enjoying summer etc, but was placed on a 3day Microsoft HyperV course. Which now i feel pretty confident in HyperV, using SCVMM and inegrating that with SCOM. Anyone got experience with these 2 exams? 70-403 / 70-652. As my company is a Gold Partner. To get additional Competency to be Virtualization Specialist. Two people need to pass these two exams.
Currently having a break after the MCITP:EA. Citrix or Cisco next, not sure!

My experiences of the 652 can be found here. You'll find other feedback in the Virtualisation forum.

You should be in good shape to be fair, the 652 wasn't that difficult. I havent done the SCVMM2008 one yet (I will be doing, I also suspect the company I work for will want that new Virtualization Competency).

Incidentally, how was the 3 day MS course?

    Good luck icon_thumright.gif

Course was very good to be fair, first time i have done official microsoft classroom course. It wasnt too bad for me, i saw some people who i know were struggling. You have to have a good understanding or SAN's / AD / Microsoft Storage tools (Storage Explorer etc) / Setting up ISCSI Target and then using the initiator to contact LUNS. Having knowledge of this was expected prior to course.

652 is a cakewalk. I used the MS E-learning for that course which is still free right now (159$ value)

    I scored a 935 on it.

Havnt taken the SCVMM exam but I imagine it to be much more difficult. I use SCVMM on a daily basis now, though, so i would kind of like to sit it.

Microsoft is offering some free training for Hyper-V which includes modules on HA and Failover Clustering. Free eLearning: Exam 70-652: TS: Windows Server Virtualization, Configuring — This collection of five 2-hour courses helps you develop the skills necessary for implementing and managing Hyper-V in an IT environment, as well as, creating and managing virtual machines and hosts in a virtual environment. Certification and maybe some other stuff: Free training 70-652: Hyper V - is where I heard about these e-learning courses, the codes are there too (if they still work).

I am working my way through them at the moment because they expire in August and I had the wife on the phone earlier to tell me my Sybex book has arrived too :)

Its really not bad at all. Make sure you do the free elearning and try to play with SCVMM for about half an hour or so, if you can. Doing that you should be fine.

I am working through the e-learning at the moment (TBH it's much like XenServer) and now have a nice Sybex book to read in the bath icon_lol.gif

I think I'll get it book for ... hhhhhmmm .... Thursday (my favourite day for exams) icon_wink.gif

Thanks for the input on this little known exam icon_cheers.gif

They should create the MCITP: VA (Virtualization Administrator) from the two tests (SCVMM and hyperv). icon_lol.gificon_cool.gif

    You forgot this one: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-656&locale=en-us

I believe there were talks of a virtualization MCITP at one point; that might still be in development.

I didnt know about that one, cool.

That would make it 4 tests though (assuming theyd add a Pro exam as the do with the MCITP stuff)
