Both Odom's Cisco Press CCNA Certification Library and Todd's Sybex CCNA 6th edition are usually recommended here.

If you already have lots of experience with Cisco Equipment at your job, and are not new to networking, you may be able to "get by" with just the Sybex book.

For people with limited or no networking (or IT experience), then you'd probably need to read both.

The Odom books go into depth on the topics which helps build a good foundation for future Cisco Studies and Certifications. And the Sybex book is more of a "fun read" and good for review -- and is probably best for learning subnetting. Together they form a CCNA Self-Study Dynamic Duo!! :D

I used Odom and CBT Nuggets ICND2. It all depends on how you study though.

This thread is a good example of how most think of CCNA study as an either/or proposition-- Lammle (Sybex) or Odom (Cisco). I think there are actually three choices-- Lammle, Odom and Bryant.

If you're new to networking, I'd suggest Odom, then Bryant for anything you need help with.

If you're experienced, then the suggestion is Lammle then Bryant for go-overs.
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.
