Hi Guys,

I was just wondering what people think of the boot camps? Has anyone here been on one? Guess they must have them in US to? Wouold people attend one?

Are we allowed to mention companies who do them on this forum?

By many accounts a waste of time and money if you are going independent. Just do it yourself. If the company is paying, attend. Be aware that many bootcamps liberally sprinkle the t-k's around while the instructor reads the paper on 500 dollars a day.

If you want to remember the info - avoid them. A lot of people go to a boot camp, cram for a test, get a cert, and forget the info within a few weeks.

    1. Set up a lab and have fun playing with it.
    2. Study while playing with your lab.
    3. ???
    4. Get you Cert. icon_wink.gif

But if you really want to spend the money on a boot camp, I would recommend http://www.thebryantadvantage.com/CCNA%20Store.htm

It will cost you less than a sit-down boot camp, and you can watch it over and over to really learn the material.

You won't have a teacher to ask your questions, but that's where forums like this come into the picture. I have found the people here to be very helpful! icon_cheers.gif

Boot Camps can be very usefull

    IF

    1) You are already close to the exam with your own study
    AND
    2) You arn't the one footing the bill - Your company is.

Seriously, they are no quick solution to getting the cert. The CCNA is a ton of information and the only way to do it is properly. Otherwise you run a high risk of failure and even if they massage you to get you through the exam, a month down the road, most of that information will be gone and you will be relying on it later on and indead, you will have a bit of paper that says you know that information. If has been lost by seepage, you could end up looking a right pratt at interview.

If you were thinking of footing the bill yourself you should think again unless you are young and have a brain like a seive.

If you are the one footing the bill, you will be far better off keeping your money in your pocket and buying the books, maybe some cheap gear from EBay (the UK ebay has a thriving supply of CCNA capable equipment going really cheap right now)

It will take you longer but you will end up actually knowing and understanding the huge mass of information rather than just remember words and phrases just to get through the exam.
