I recently passed the CCENT and will be taking the ICND2 test in a couple of months. I am looking ahead at the CCNP and want to add another switch to my home lab. Does anyone know if the WS-C3548-XL-EN is worth buying? I currently have 1 2924, 3 2950, 1 2960G, 1 3550. Thanks.

    No.....

I agree. Wait until you can afford a 3550 so you can get some experience on a real Layer 3 switch.

Not sure if the 3524-XL-EN has any obsolete features that the 2924 doesn't have that would be nice to know.....

With 3 2950s, 1 2960, and 1 3550 I'd say you have enough switching hardware for CCENT/CCNA studies and probably enough for the CCNP.

I've seen 3550s go for $125 (plus shipping) recently so adding a 2nd 3550 for a CCNP/future CCIE Lab isn't as expensive as it used to be.

If you wanted to add switches for a future CCIE lab consider a couple 3560 or 3750 switches.
