CCNA lab opinion

dshay25dshay25 Member Posts: 27 ■□□□□□□□□□
I am preparing to purchase equipment for a CCNA lab (I am planning to go further than CCNA). I have found these items at reasonable prices and plan to go with the following setup. I am looking for feedback and suggestions of anything that I can improve about this lab setup.

Lab Setup:
-Routers:
(3) 2610xm
(1) 2520 (relay)
-Switches:
(2) 2950c-24 (least expensive EI model I could find)
(1) 2924-XL-EN
-Access Terminal:
(1) 2509 or 2511 (Depending on price)

Any advice/suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Assuming it is for a reasonable price, that will do very well for a CCNA lab and be a good starting point for CCNP.

Nice setup -- don't forget the WICs and back-to-back cables.

That 3rd 2600XM is the difference between a CCNA Lab and good CCNP Lab. :D The 2950 EI switches will definitely earn their keep here.

Toss in a 3550 switch for the CCNP and you have the "better" CCNP Lab. :D

Definitely good. I just ordered my stuff for the same thing. I got a 2611xm, (2) 2650xm's, and a 1721 router, two 2950 switches, (3) WIC's, and back-to-back cables. I'm going to order another router for a relay switch soon. I plan to order another switch or two and another router before I go toward the CCNP.

Thank you all very much for the feedback. I will now start the process of draining my bank account icon_thumright.gif

Good setup... for your frame relay switch... look into purchasing a cheap 2610 (not XM) and a NM-4T. They're pretty cheap. I use this currently for my Frame Relay Switch. Works great. Good luck!

Lol, I must admit that I looked. I just had to be sure :)

Also, thank you for the suggestion peanutnoggin. A 2610 with NM-4T is an "easier on my wallet" solution for the relay switch :)
