Getting an interview quickly?

Ok due some circumstances I might be sitting in Dallas for a week. I'm going to pounding the pavement. Does anyone have any suggestions on trying to push for an interview?
I Know in my cover letter I can specifically say "I'm in town for the next Seven days I'd love to meet you in person". Does anyone else have any ideas?
I'm looking to move down to Dallas but working on a limited budget and just wanting back into the job market. I know I'm taking a big gamble and nothing is certain but I want to get my face out to as many places as possible.
Thanks.

You should be able to get a lot more attention if you place calls and arrange meetings.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/
