After reading about bags, need to know how u guys dress to work ? i mean being a IT proffessional and all

I dress for how I want to be perceived, so it's long-sleeved, button-down dress shirts and nice trousers every day--even on "Casual Fridays." So far, no one has accused me of "not being a team player" for doing such.

personally myself always wear tracksuites from work ussually go to the gym and is like almost 2 km goin there, only one guy in our department wear shirts and his job is ussually give people access , other guys wear shorts especially on fridays

Button down dress shirt and slacks, every day. On the hottest days of summer, or if im neck deep in a server cabinet ill wear a polo.

I try to wear ties when i know im not going to get into anything dirty. Funny thing is, a LOT of my coworkers ridicule me when i dress well because it changes the status quo for them, and they dont like that.

Dress shirt, good pants, and a tie Monday through Thursday. No tie on Fridays. We're moving to a new building and I still had to dress normally so I got everything nice and dirty. Miss my old IT job where jeans and a polo did the trick. I was able to fight to wear sneakers though so that's a plus!

I actually prefer a shirt and die with some nice pants, but nobody else in my department dresses in anything more than polo and jeans, sometimes khakis - including the boss. Our official company dress policy is business casual, but our dept. seems to be exempt from this, I suspect my boss nagged enough to slide by without following it. It's frustrating sometimes, because I feel more confident and feel like people take me more serious if I'm dressed better, but I get the feeling that my boss doesn't care for it too much. I do wear a shirt and tie more often in the fall/winter despite what anyone in my dept. might think though. Where we are located in our building was sliced off the rest of the building and they never re-worked the ducts and as a result it's very hot in the summer and fairly cold in the colder months.

It is nice at times having a fairly relaxed dress policy, but sometimes I wish we had to follow policy (the companies) too.

Daily dress with be pant and shirt, meeting with a jacket or tie, formal meeting wear suit.

As for firday is causal wear = polo and jeans. However, when you know there is major clean up and moveing equipment with in the NOS. Then dress down.

I hate the whole concept of a tie; serves no purpose at all. It's just a static hazard on open machines and a personal hazard when fixing printers.

Whenever I wear my business jacket, someone always asks if I'm going for an interview. It's actually because I'm cold.

At our workplace, we generally wear casual clothing - nice shirt, pants, and no tie. Since our department actually goes on site and works in the field, ties would only be a hassle.

I really enjoy my job. We use a ton of different software for the various departments, so I am learning a ton. Plus, I get to use old computers and make up practice labs.

I worked at a casino for about 3x months. The immensity of the systems is crazy!

Our dress code is pretty much 'don't get arrested'. We do alot of hands on work with hardware, so that precludes dressing nice. Lots of guys are t-shirts and jeans (no one really wears shorts, sharp server edges and bare skin don't mix, not to mention our data center is freezing).

Personally, I wear polo's and trouser's. The company provided each of us with a large number of polo's, and I'd rather wear out their clothes than mine while working with hardware. If they didn't provide them, I'd probably wear a mix between dress shirts and polo's and still wear trousers. When I dress like a bum, I feel like a bum, and I act like a bum. So I try to strike a balance between practicality, comfort, and presentability.

technically, we're supposed to dress "business casual" - no jeans, no sneakers (except for black sneakers...wtf?). Most of the fellas push the envelope and come in looking a little rumpled with some cargo pants and oversized polos. I tend to dress up a bit more and wear dress pants and a nice shirt or sweater. I'm the only chick on the tech team in our building, and I'm the oldest on the team too (34), so I try to strike a balance between looking adult and professional and nice but not too nice or girly. So that leads to me taking forever to try to put together an outfit every day...

Everyone in the company is allow to dress down on Friday

Well about my the desktop support team one day the manager turn around and say he did'nt think we should be allow to come in jeans.

We would'nt mind all the other teams in the IT department can and show the rest of the department.

I hate working where I do at moment lol

Which day is "thong + shirt day"?

My last place had a casual day every so often for some random charity event. The list of what you couldn't wear was incredibly long and varied. Swimwear, cowboy spurs and oddly enough, fancy dress costumes were listed amongst other things. I'm not sure what prompted them to add these to the list but I guess somebody in the past has tried to push the limits of what is casual.

For working in a banking environment, it is nice to wear a suit but a nice pair of dress pants and a button down shirt works well...and TIE is mandatory.

I work for an accountancy firm and am required to wear a suit and tie Monday to Thursday.
Friday I am allowed to leave the tie off.

I much prefer it this way, I would feel like a second class citizen if I was wearing jeans while all the accountants etc wore their suits.

I do my best to push the idea that I am a qualified and educated employee maintaining a critical IT infrastructure and not just someone who fixes PCs and printers.

We do not live in an ideal world, and if a suit makes people take me more seriously, I will embrace the suit!
