Internet Monitor?

Does anyone have a favorite program they run on a network or heard about that monitors company/network traffic...Something that is not a proxy or gateway push through?

I have written a simple program called netping it pings all ips once every 30 mins and records the results in an excel spread sheet.

A good proffesion solution is HP openview, or Spectrum

Thanks! I actually need a Internet monitor...I use LanGuard- LanScan for my network...
