Please help me find a ict job in the UK!

Hi all

I currently have two A levels one in ICT and one in Business. I'm looking for my first ICT job and finding it very difficult. Since leaving college I've passed CCNA and I am studying for 70-290. I am mainly applying to entry level helpdesk/1st line support jobs which are asking for no experience and have been doing for about 5 months now. I must have applied to about 50 jobs and yet I haven't heard anything back AT ALL not even a sorry your not suitable or a we'll forward your CV to the employer anything at all.

I think it's driving me slightly insane. I've got to the point where im willing to do anything at all, I'll relocate away from my family, I'll work for crap money I'll do anything!! Please guys if you have any tips at all or know of any jobs that might be suitable for me I'd be really appreciative of it!

I think you might want to post up your resume, so we can see. That would be a start. Most of the time, the resume is the ticket.

Since you are posting it on here, you might want to remove your full name, address, and telephone number.

I really wouldn't put my DOB on my resume at all. I generally do not use an "objective" but make a quick summary of my professional skills. On the education section I would make that into a bulleted list, maybe a few of the more important IT classes you have taken. Professional experience I would turn into a bulleted list with highlights of things you have done that showed your value as an employee. It is also better to not use "I" in a resume. The thank you on the bottom should usually be used on the cover letter and not the resume itself.

These are my thoughts on it. I'm sure someone will come up with some even better ideas.

Try doing some contract work to get some IT experiance too. Stuff like desktop rollout or entry level work.

cwjobs and jobserve are two good websites.

Keep plugging away with your certs too. Your CV does need tweaking but im no good with those things! one thing i would say is - under skills expand on what you have wrote. I.e. Microsoft System Administration Skills - what kind of skills? doing what? in a particular system etc

Are you going on on to do your degree? Maybe look into one on a part-time basis.
