Hello can someone please help me in understanding this...
Here is a line from
show version
on my 2501 router:
cisco 2500 (68030) processor (revision F) with 16384K/2048K bytes of memory.
Why is the memory split into 2 parts??
Does this mean my Router has 18MB of Ram?
I got 18MB by [16384+2048] / 1024...
Thanks in advance!

How to Choose a Cisco IOS Software Release - Cisco Systems
maybe this helps

16MB in a removable SIMM and 2MB soldered onto the motherboard. Not all 2500s came with the 2MB.

tiersten is right; depending on the revision of the 2500, later revisions had 2MB soldered onto the board.
But as far as the dispatch goes;
cisco 2500 (68030) processor (revision F) with 16384K/2048K bytes of memory.
you have 16MB available to IOS and 2MB available to IOMEM.
When you populate the SIMM slot on a 2500 series that has the addition 2MB onboard, that memory becomes the IOMEM.
