Security Certified Professional certs

Does anyone have recent experience or knowledge of the SCP certs? I know it's been discussed quite a while ago. I've been looking at them as a possibility and wondered about the quality of the info. Mostly interested in it for the knowledge, I know there aren't a lot of job ads that mention them. Thanks.

Looks like a legit program, only problem is I cannot find anybody looking for those certs on the job boards.

I saw that thread, guess I was wondering if anything had changed since then. The limited number of jobs that mention it, and the general lack of information, do concern me. I'm more than willing to take one for the team and be the sample subject, but not when it's on my dime.

I've got several other things I can pursue for now.

When I took a SCNP class several years ago at a local community college, the program looked like a package deal that was marketed to colleges wanting to offer InfoSec classes to students as a profit center. Right now I don't see classes from Security Certified Program offered anywhere in Southern California. The new cert program in the local SoCal colleges now are from Gatlin Education Services. Gatlin's programs are offered as online class packages through accredited universities, but no credit (academic, CEU, CPE) are given for completing the classes.
